Most people have kept or at least heard of the Common Goldfish with a single tail, but don't realise that they come in a mixture of colours, one colour being a Canary yellow rather than the usual orange. They all have the same requirements and make lovely additions to any cold water set up be it in a tank or pond. Ponds are the best option long term due to their growth potential which is 8-12". Tank Requirements: It is not true that they only grow to the size of their tank, they will more likely become stunted and live shorter lives. See Minimum Tank Volume and Minimum Tank Size above. Diet Requirements: Usually their diet consists of goldfish flakes or pellets. As a treat, you might also like to offer some frozen foods such as daphnia, bloodworms or maybe a couple of squashed frozen peas. Compatibility: Weather Loaches, Misgurnus anguillicaudatus, are a nice choice if you have at least a 4 foot tank. They're peaceful, a little unusual and very placid, and mix without problems. Recommendations: Best not to keep with Fancy Goldfish like Fantails as Common/Single Tail Goldfish are faster swimmers and their darting about can stress their Fancy cousins. Better suited to garden ponds.
